When my brain is otherwise unoccupied, it tends to provide me with an internal soundtrack. Sort of the mental equivalent of elevator music.
I just realized that the selections that recently arise with the greatest frequency, when there is an absence of any external cue, are the opening lines of “We Put the Spring in Springfield” from the episode of “The Simpsons” about the burlesque house Maison Derrière, and “I Love Willies,” from the episode of “The IT Crowd” where they go to see the play “Gay: A Gay Musical.”
Why do I share this? I have no idea.
…other than that I should be asleep, and instead my brain is doing this odd musical mashup – again, and I never really took notice of it before now.
